In the dynamic pharmaceutical distribution landscape, efficiency and quality are crucial priorities. Global Lean presents a success story of a leading pharmaceutical company in Latin America, with more than 50 years of history and presence in 18 countries, demonstrating how the implementation of a Dynamic Picking system can significantly transform logistics.
Challenges and Objectives:
The company faced constant growth and the need to incorporate new references, which represented great challenges for its supply chain and distribution processes. The main objective was to redesign and optimize these processes from a Lean perspective of Continuous Improvement, improving productivity in warehouse areas and ensuring efficient traceability, as well as rapid adaptation to new references.
Implemented Strategies:
– Process Study and Optimal Design: A detailed analysis of existing warehouse processes was carried out, integrating Lay-Out designs adapted to operational growth.
– Automation and Waste Elimination: The company adapted automation options and eliminated unnecessary processes in Picking.
– Implementation of 5S Strategies: These strategies helped consolidate the implementation of new designs, improving the general quality of the service.
Importance of Dynamic Picking:
Dynamic Picking stood out as a key component in this transformation process. Its custom implementation not only optimized operations in terms of location and sizing, but also provided the flexibility necessary for future growth and adaptation. This strategy allowed a significant improvement in efficiency and precision, being fundamental for the results obtained.
