Easy handling of heavy loads

The Motoman GP series comprises compact and extremely efficient robots for high-speed joining, packaging and general handling applications. In time for Automatica, Yaskawa has widened its range by adding several new handling models with payloads of 35 to 600 kg.

With this latest addition to the range of models the current GP models are successively replacing the handling robots of the proven MH series ab. “GP” stands for “general purpose” and thus for a multitude of applications. The 6-axis robots are true productivity drivers.

New Motoman YRC1000 high-performance controller

The GP series of robots are controlled by the new Motoman YRC1000 high-performance controller. The hand-held programmer of the YRC1000 control unit is clearly and ergonomically arranged. It is the lightest in its category at only 730g. The touchscreen enables intuitive operation and thus easy movement and scrolling with the cursor. A 3D-simulation on the display of the hand-held programmer shows the movement of the real robot arm and the limits of safe working. Open interfaces predestine the new generation of controllers for use in Industrie 4.0 environments. The extremely compact control unit with a cabinet volume of only 125 litres permits optimum use of space. The product portfolio is rounded off by many additional cabinets in the same design.

Robust design

Like the first models of the GP series, the wrist axes (R, B, T) of the new handling robots are constructed in conformance with protection class IP67. This enables them to be used for handling and other automated tasks in harsher environments without further modifications.

Their slim and compact design enables the manipulators to reach deep into the working areas, and the smooth surfaces facilitate cleaning of the GP robots. Only a robot cable is required for connecting the manipulator to the controller. The advantages of this solution lie in extremely low wear and reduced space requirements. In addition, it enables a reduction in the spare parts inventory and lower maintenance costs.
