Logistics & Automation joins the “Goods on the Train” partnership
Logistics & Automation, the leading trade fair for the logistics, automation and transport sector, joins the sustainable initiative “Goods by Rail”, which aims to promote rail freight as the most sustainable means of transport.
Mercancías al tren continues to gain support in its journey towards a sustainable mobility that promotes the railway as a key means of transport in the fight against climate change.
The latest addition to the initiative is Easyfairs, the first private organiser of trade fairs in Central and Northern Europe, which in Spain has the leading events for the packaging, logistics and industrial technology sectors, with Empack, Logistics & Automation and Advanced Manufacturing respectively.
In the words of Mariana Castell – its Marketing Director for Spain & Portugal “The “Goods by Train” initiative highlights the importance of reducing CO2 emissions and promoting the transport of goods by rail. Recently and within the Logistics & Automation show, we have launched the Transport & Delivery brand in order to include a sector that we consider critical and on the rise. At Easyfairs we have been working for years on an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme to promote all these types of initiatives and activities and we believe that Logistics & Automation can be a perfect showcase and loudspeaker for this campaign in the transport & freight sector”.
With this new partner, “Goods on the Train” reinforces its attempt to achieve a decarbonised and environmentally committed transport sector. The European initiative continues to raise awareness among both public institutions and companies, pursuing the combination of rail and road to reduce CO2 emissions.
The aim of the initiative is to reduce road traffic, protect the environment and reduce CO2 emissions with rail freight as a key partner. The same transport by rail emits 80% less CO2, replaces up to 52 trucks which means less congestion on motorways and roads and reduces external costs by up to 50%.
A campaign with strong support
“Goods by Train” is a European movement that was first launched in Germany and the United Kingdom, and now reaches our country. After its first stops in Valencia, Alicante and its passage through the fair – congress Rail Live! in Madrid and Malaga, Barcelona, Logroño and Algeciras, it is now preparing to continue its journey through other regions.
It has been very well received by companies and institutions that see the train as the solution to decarbonise transport.
