Logistics & Automation, the new brand of the Logistics event which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, has just signed a partnership agreement with the organisations CEL and ICIL, through which it ratifies its participation in the fair, which will be held at IFEMA on 25 and 26 November, within the framework of Empack Madrid.
Logistics & Automation is the European network of events designed to offer the latest trends in logistics services, suppliers and the latest technologies and will be a key meeting point for logistics, production, procurement, handling and information technology managers from small and medium-sized companies as well as large corporations.
In recent years, the logistics sector has become increasingly important. According to data from 2018, it represents 6% of GDP in Spain, generates a turnover of 110,000 million euros and employs 850,000 workers. Thus, it represents a key sector for Industry 4.0 and e-commerce.
And while it is true that logistics was already a fundamental pillar in society, its importance has become more evident than ever as a result of the emergence of COVID-19. In this sense, logistics companies are essential in the health emergency, as they work tirelessly to ensure that the flow of food, medicines and health products is not interrupted in record time and under very difficult conditions.
According to Ana Isabel González, President of the Spanish Logistics Centre and Director of Global Customer Logistics at Procter & Gamble, once this moment has passed, supply chains will not be the same: “we have to place value on digital transformation, look to our capacity for prediction and, especially, commit to training to face the new work models and the recruitment of talent that these times require”.
The Spanish Logistics Centre, a national and international reference association for the management of the supply chain in Spain, will accompany the fair in the analysis of the new challenges facing logistics for an area as relevant as e-commerce in the new context. To this end, it will once again present a practical workshop to analyse, among other topics, automation and robotisation in e-commerce, the tools for planning operations in fulfilment and distribution processes, including the digitisation of operations from order to delivery. In addition, CEL will present a new study on e-Commerce Logistics, which will include an analysis of the main impacts and changes that have been experienced during the pandemic and the structural growth of the activity for each of the sectors.
ICIL is a centre for the evolution and transformation of professionals and companies in Supply through research, innovation and dissemination, both in Spain and Latin America.
Its vocation is evident in initiatives such as the innovative ICIL Lab. “We want to bring to the fair our ICIL Lab, the business logistics laboratory, through professionals and companies that are leading this transformation,” says César Castillo, academic director of ICIL. The space offers a transversal vision that reinforces the assimilation of knowledge and skills through the learning by doing methodology. In this sense, they have begun to include gamification and simulators in their different programmes in order to imitate real decision-making conditions. Additive production, collaborative robotics, augmented reality and blockchain are some of the aspects on which they place special emphasis. Thus, the theme that will be addressed in their presentations will focus on “The future of supply through gamification, simulation and new technologies”.
Empack Madrid, a trade fair specialising in packaging, packaging and packaging, is held together with Logistics & Automation, a combination that offers multiple synergies for visitors and exhibitors.
