Transport calls for tenders for new intermodal logistics terminal in Valladolid

The new terminal will have seven tracks of more than 750 metres, container loading and storage areas, a management building and a logistics expansion area.

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Mitma, has put out to tender the construction works for the Valladolid railway complex, which will receive an investment of 71.8 million euros and will be financed by the Recovery Plan.

This initiative is part of the second phase of the project, which aims to turn Valladolid into an important centre for freight transport and railway technology.

The project includes the construction of a freight terminal, a track technology centre, a maintenance base and the relocation of existing facilities. These infrastructures will reshape the city’s rail network, streamlining freight and passenger traffic by avoiding the Valladolid-Campo Grande station. In addition, they will allow the recovery of urban spaces.

The new logistics terminal will occupy 230,000 m² and will integrate the activities of the La Esperanza and Argales facilities. It will have seven lanes of more than 750 metres, container loading and storage areas, a management building, vehicle parking areas and a logistics expansion area. A Track Technology Centre and a Redalsa centre with greater space and capacity will also be built, as well as an Adif maintenance base.

At the same time, work is progressing on the construction of the track yard, the eastern bypass and the signalling and telecommunications facilities. The eastern bypass is a 17.5-kilometre railway line that will allow goods trains on the Madrid-Hendaye line to pass through without crossing the city or the station, connecting with the new railway complex.
